If you want to make your Instagram story even more colorful, you can change the background color in just a few steps. We'll show you how it works..

Would you like to integrate a question sticker or a quiz into your Instagram story, but not use a picture as a background? Then we will show you below how to adjust the background color in the story. You can create single-colored backgrounds using a photo, multi-colored backgrounds using the design function.

Instagram Stories: Change background color via photo

You can set a solid color background by taking a photo and then painting over it with a color. To do this, follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the brief instructions .

1st step:

Open the Instagram app and swipe your finger from left to right on the home screen once. The camera view now opens . Alternatively, you can also access the camera view using the story function on the Instagram home screen.

2nd step:

Now just take a photo that will later be covered with the background color . The photo only serves as an underground layer for the background color of your story. So it doesn't matter what can be seen in the photo.

3rd step:

After taking a photo, tap the curved stroke icon at the top . A color selection now appears in the lower area .

4th step:

Pick the color you'd like to add as a background color for your story. You can choose between black, white and individual colors. You can also use the eyedropper to choose a color from the photo.

5th step:

When you have selected your desired background color, you now have to hold your finger on the screen for a second or two . The picture will then take on the color you want for the background of your Instagram story. Additional tip: You can use the eraser to expose parts of the image under the background color.

Open the camera view on the Instagram home screen by swiping from left to right or above via the plus in the story function.

2nd step:

On the left is the symbol '' Aa ", which stands for '' Gestalten ". Tap this icon once. Then the background of your story takes on a pre-selected color gradient.

3rd step:

Each time you tap the circle at the bottom right, the background color of your Instagram story changes. Touch this repeatedly until the desired color gradient or black and white background appears.

  1. On the Instagram home screen, swipe from left to right to the camera view .
  2. Take a photo there.
  3. At the top, tap the curved line icon . The color selection now opens in the lower area.
  4. Tap the color you want for the background of your Instagram story.
  5. Press the screen with your finger for a second or two . The background color of your story will now change.

quick start Guide

  1. Switch from the Instagram home screen to the camera view by swiping to the right or tapping the story function .
  2. Tap on the ' Aa symbol ' on the left .
  3. Now tap the circle outlined in white at the bottom right until the desired background color for your story appears.
