Supported names Name a table in Excel

Supported names
- Leading character: the table name must start with a character, underscore (_), or backslash (\). It is also not possible to use C, c, R or as the only name of your table, this is because these characters are designated for other purposes in Excel.
- Cell Reference: It is also not possible to use a cell reference as the name of your table.
- Name separator: You cannot separate multiple words in your table name with a space. In order to do this, we must use an underscore or period.
- Character limit: maximum characters is 255.
- Names cannot be repeated: it is not possible to have two tables with the same name. We must consider that the names in lowercase and uppercase are the same. Therefore, we cannot use "mytable" if we already use "MYTABLE".
Name a table in Excel

With the cell selected, we are going to have to click on the Excel ribbon at the top and select "Table Design". For Mac users it is "Table".
