Introduction
Private virtual networks use special security protocols that allow access to private services.
When a user connects via Internet, the configuration of the virtual private network allows him to connect to the private network, either for personal or corporate use, and access the available resources of the same as if he were sitting quietly in his office.
Installation
We must take into account as a first step that you must install
RRAS
through administrator of Windows 2008 Server R2 as
"Function".
As usual and we should already have incorporated in our tool box, if we are really administrators, we run the
"Server Manager".
We address in the central screen and where it does not say
"ACTION"
, there we will find the option of Add roles,
"ADD ROLES".
Then we will open the installation wizard with the different actions that we can install in our Windows 2008 Server R2.
In the first screen, as a welcome we will give you
"NEXT".
When you click, it will show us the different options,
"Select server functions"
, here you have to check the box against the option of
"Access networks and services directives"
and then
"NEXT"
to continue.
Next, it is necessary to check the box against the option called
"Routing and remote access services."
We will give you
"NEXT".
Once the election is over, the details of what is chosen for our installation will appear as usual, if we are satisfied with our choice, we will confirm our installation by clicking on the
"INSTALL"
button
.
After the installation finished, it will be closed.
Now let's run our already installed tool, again we go to our
"Server Manager"
.
We will give right click on
"configure and enable routing and remote access"
, to configure and enable Routing and remote access.
an assistant will not open and we will give
"NEXT".
Select the option
"Custom configuration"
and we will give you
"NEXT".
In the box that tells us "VPN access", we tick it and give it
"NEXT".
Then we will give you
"FINISH"
and we will only have to start the VPN service in our Windows 2008 Server R2.
This completes the VPN Access procedure in Windows 2008 Server R2, then in the main screen of the Server Manager you can see an "R" indicating that our service is working.
Now we must change the configuration of "
Firewall"
to allow the necessary ports, and can run a VPN server.
The following are the necessary ports:
Port 1723 TCP
Port 47 GRE
This concludes the process of installing a VPN server in Windows 2008 Server R2.
This is a very useful service that facilitates access through the Virtual network to connect to our Windows 2008 Server R2.
