Before starting we must take into account

Before applying this document you must have all DRIVERS, BIOS and FIRMWARES in versions validated for Windows 2003.

All applications are ANTIVIRUS, AGENTS etc. must be validated with Windows 2003 Server
Both IP Addresses and network settings must be validated before applying this Tutorial.

Installation Operating System Windows 2003 Server
  • Configure the hardware according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  • Start the server from the Windows Server 2003 CD.
  • On the "Setup Notification" page , press ENTER to continue.
  • On the "Welcome to Setup" page , press ENTER to continue.

  • On the "Windows Licensing Agreement" page, press F8 to accept the license.
  • On the "Windows Server 2003," Setup "page, partition the disk
  • C: \ 40 GB
  • Leave space on the disk unpartitioned. (This unpartitioned space will be used depending on the role of the server)
  • Select C: and press ENTER to install the operating system.

  • Select "Format the partition using the NTFS file system (Quick)", and press ENTER to continue.
  • On the "Regional and Language Options" page, press "Customize"
  • In the Regional options tab, select the following, and then press "OK"
  • Standards and Format: Spanish
  • Location: Spain
  • Press the "Details" button to configure the keyboard layout, and then press "Next".
  • On the "Personalize Your Software" page, complete the following, and then press "Next".

  • On the "Your Product Key" page, enter the product key, and then press "Next".
  • On the "Licensing Modes" page, select "Per server" or "Per Device or Per User", and then press "Next".
  • On the "Computer Name and Administrator Password" page, complete the following, and then press "Next"

  • Confirm password:
  • On the "Date and Time Settings" page, select the corresponding time zone, and then press "Next".
  • On the "Networking Settings" page, select "Custom settings", and then press Next.
  • On the "Networking Components" page, click Internet Protocol (TCP / IP), and then press "Properties."
  • In the "Internet Protocol (TCP / IP) Properties" dialog box, select "Use the following IP address", fill in the following information, and then press "Advanced".

  • In the "WINS" tab, press Add.
  • In the "TCP / IP WINS Server" dialog, type the address of the WINS server (s), press Add, and then OK.
  • In the Internet Protocol (TCP / IP) Properties dialog box, select OK.
  • On the Networking Components page, click Next.
  • On the "Workgroup or Computer Domain" page, click Next if you want to leave the server in a workgroup and add it to the domain later.

The installation was completed, and the server restarts.


Post-Installation Configuration

In the control panel, in "System" properties
  • Enable "Remote Desktop"
In the "Remote" tab, check the option "Enable Remote Desktop on this computer"
  • Configure "Startup and Recovery" options
In the "Advanced" tab, inside the "Startup and Recovery" item, click on the "Settings" button

In "System Failure", select the following options:
  • Write an event to the system log
  • Send an administrative alert
  • Automatically reboot
In Write Debugging Information, select option Kernel memory dump
Dump File:% SystemRoot% \ MEMORY.DMP.
  • Overwrite any existing file
  • Set pagefile size
In the "Advanced" tab, inside the "Performance" item, click on the "Settings" button

In the "Advanced" tab, in the "Virtual memory" item press the "Change" button

Set the log on disk C: and as an initial rule, set the initial and maximum pagefile size to 1.5 times the size of the physical memory.

Press the "Set" button, then "OK", "OK" and finally "OK".

Update Service Packs and Hotfixes

The operating system must be updated to the latest version of available service packs and hotfixes.
With this type of configuration we will have a 100% guaranteed Server in its operation.
