With the iPhone, you can only export contacts via iCloud or the app. That's how it's done:

The iPhone contacts are not saved on the SIM card, but directly on the device. However, you can export your contacts as "vcf" files via iCloud or special apps, making them easier to send or transfer to other devices. Our instructions show you how to do it:

Export iPhone contacts via iCloud

Before you actually start exporting, you need to download the contacts to iCloud . To do this, open " Settings "> " Apple ID "> " iCloud " on your iPhone and activate the button under " Contacts ". Tap " Merge " to confirm the action.

You can now export the contacts. To do this, follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the brief instructions ..

1st step:

Sign in to www.iCloud.com with your Apple ID on your browser and click on " Contacts ".

2nd step:

First select all contacts . The easiest way to do this is to click the first contact , then hold down the Shift key and click the last contact . Of course, you can also select and export just individual contacts . Then click on the Settings icon at the bottom left and select " Export vCard ".

3rd step:

Now save the file on your computer. You should then find the contacts in your download folder .

Export iPhone contacts using an app

If you are currently on the move or do not want to upload your contacts to the iCloud, you can also export them using an app. Unfortunately, this is only available from iOS 12. Follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at our quick start guide .

1st step:

Download the " Easy Backup " app from the AppStore . Alternatively, you can also use apps such as " Contacts backup manager " or " Contacts synchronization ". Open the app and confirm access to your contacts via " Contacts access "> " OK ".

2nd step:

The contacts have now been imported into the app and you can tap " Next ".

3rd step:

Tap the backup icon in the top center. This will create a backup copy of the contacts.

4th step:

Now go to " E-Mail " to send the file and then save it on your computer, for example. A transfer to Excel is also possible free of charge. An export, on the other hand, only works with a paid full version of the app.

5th step:

Here you can see the file as a mail attachment . It has the general format " .vcf " for contact data and can thus be imported to other devices.
