Saving routes in Google Maps is very easy with the My Maps function. We'll explain exactly how to do this..

Do you keep driving the same routes that you use Google Maps for? It pays to save routes. This works very easily with the My Maps function, which you can use to personalize your Google Maps map. You can then call up the route on your laptop or smartphone at any time - even without an active internet connection. However, you must note that routes can only be saved on the PC and not via the app, where they can, however, be viewed after saving.

Save routes with My Maps

Follow our step-by-step instructions , the quick start guide or the explanatory video .

1st step:

Open My Maps via this link www.google.com/maps and log in with your Google access data .

Then click on " Create new card " at the top left .

Then click on the button with the fork in the road above to create a new route. A field then opens on the left in which you can enter the start and destination of your route. The route is displayed with [Enter] . You can edit the route by clicking on a point and dragging it somewhere else.

4th step:

To rename this map, click on " Unnamed map " at the top left and enter a suitable name for the route. You can save multiple routes on one map.

Call up saved routes in My Maps

You can also easily call up routes that you have saved offline. The process is the same on PC and smartphone.

1st step:

Open Google Maps on your PC or smartphone. Then open the three-line menu at the top left and select the " My Places " entry .

Now switch to the " Maps " category and select the corresponding map with your route.

Share saved routes in My Maps

Once you have created and saved a route, you can quickly and easily share it with other people. Unfortunately, this only works via the web browser so far..

1st step:

Open a created route in Google My Maps . In the route overview click on " Share ". If the button is not yet displayed to you, make sure that you have given the card a name above. Then reload the website if necessary.

First activate the checkmark next to " Activate link sharing ". You can then copy the link from the text field below and send it, for example, by e-mail or messenger. If another person clicks on the link, they will be forwarded directly to this route on My Maps.

quick start Guide

  1. Use this link to open www.google.com/maps My Maps and log in there with your Google access data .
