Good audio quality is important. But the best equipment or an entire recording studio is not always available. Background noise can quickly occur with poor hardware or outdoor recordings. But even then, your recording can still be saved! With a software like Audacity, such interference can be removed quickly.

1st step:

Start Audacity and open your audio file there . Then click and drag to select an area where only noise can be heard .

Then you have to select " Effect " in the bar at the top . A menu opens with further options. Click here on " Noise Reduction ... ".

Now click on " Determine noise profile ". The window closes automatically. So you can choose which area of ​​your file to remove the noise from. If you want to clean up the whole file, simply use the key combination [Ctrl] + [A] .

Then open " Noise Reduction " again via " Effect ". You can now preview the file . If the noise suppression is too strong or too weak, you will find adjustment options such as " Noise Reduction ", " Sensitivity " and " Frequency Smoothing " directly in the window . If you are satisfied, all you have to do is click " OK ". Don't forget to save the file!

  1. Open the appropriate file in Audacity. Select an area here in which only background noise and no sound from your actual recording can be heard.
