How to connect VPN with iPad and connect to Windows servers

I will describe how to connect an iPad by VPN to a server Windows Server 2008. For the example I will use a simple VPN pptp but for that matter it can be an L2TP or the one that supports the IOS of the iPad.

On the one hand we have to configure the VPN on the iPad to connect. For this we do the following:

• Click on "Add VPN configuration"

Fill in the fields and we will add a link to connect, look at the attached image as a VPN symbol appears next to the Wifi symbol once we are correctly connected.

Now what we need is to be able to enter the network units of the server, for this in this Tutorial (although there are several options) we have used the Filebrowser v2.7 app works very well and fast.

Once installed we enter and we will see the initial screen, top left we will see the Menu button that is to put network or remote units. In this case, since we are connected to the VPN, we are going to configure a network folder as if we were in a local office or where the server is located. When you click on Menu and then on the + button, this screen will appear:

Are the options of the unit that we want to add, as you will see it accepts both Windows (PC) and MAC, NAS, Skydrive, Box, Dropbox etc. In our case as it is a server 2008 we have chosen PC and fill in the data.

In this case we have put a local IP address of the test server that we have configured with the VPN and we have not written the username and password but then when trying to connect if you do not save them you will ask for it.

and then it will show us the folders of the server!

We can download files, open them with other apps, modify them online or download them both in the Filebrowser app and in others such as Document's to Go or similar.
