The first rule of computers and game consoles states that if it can't be done just to fix it, you have to restart the device and see if that makes a difference. nine out of 10 times, it does. Lately, however, I have appreciated a difference of opinion about what forms a "hard reset" for an Apple device. Certain articles will explain this as restoring your phone to factory settings, but that is somewhat extreme and is usually your last resort. However, it appears that each new device has minor bugs and freezes, and occasionally you may need to force your device to shutdown and restart. This is how you do it.
Whether the screen is frozen or something is wrong, restarting the phone frequently (in some way) solves the problem. To serve as an example, if you have recently updated the iOS software but a new function does not appear, restart the device before searching for solutions on the Internet. You can perform a "soft reset" by pressing and holding the Wake button (located on the right side of new phones and at the top of older models) until such time as the screen displays the "Slide to reset" option.
However, if your screen freezes or something is wrong, a hard reset is your best friend. Press and hold the Wake and Home buttons until the moment the screen turns black.
