If you are not using an external program or platform while playing Fortnite , you are dependent on the internal voice chat feature to land a few Kills Royales..

As much for communicating with your friends when you drop together, as for trying to interact with random teammates you've been matched with, voice chat is a key component for many Fortnite players . And a broken voice chat just makes every moment worse.
Because Epic Games hosts its own voice chat in Fortnite , it's relatively easy to look for potential issues. There are certain troubleshooting methods specific to each platform on which the game is available..
Obviously, Epic Games cannot monitor the effectiveness of Discord or any Xbox or Playstation related chats. But if you are having trouble with the built-in voice chat in Fortnite , here are some solutions to solve your problems.

  Check servers
The first thing you should always do with any connection or voice chat issue in Fortnite is make sure that the servers are always working properly..
Epic Games suggests that players check out the community Trello board, which is updated regularly by a Fortnite gaming community when issues are discovered and reported. This will allow you to see the status of each known bug and how close Epic Games is to fixing it.
You can also simply check the server status page to get an overview of all Epic Games servers. This will tell you if a specific element of Fortnite is down, including voice chat, the matchmaking system, and even the item shop.

If something is listed working but you are still having problems, you are probably going to have to try another solution.
  Recheck your settings
Sometimes the problem with voice chat stems from a setting that has been changed without you knowing it. So if the game seems to be working well, remember to verify that the volume of your voice chat has not been changed.
To check, just adjust your voice chat volume if the sound was too low and make sure the audio output isn't sending your teammates' voices back to a source your speakers or headphones aren't picking up. (this mainly applies to PC gamers).

You also need to make sure you are on the correct audio channel, be it Party or Game.
The Party channel is used by players of the same group, it will not allow you to hear the voices of other people, even if they are your teammates during the game. Conversely, the Game channel connects players who are on the same team but from different groups, thus opening communication to anyone.
Note that you can only use Fortnite's built-in voice chat if you are using group chat on Xbox or Playstation. So be sure to leave group chat on your console if you want to use main chats.

  Additional parameters
When you are in the audio settings, make sure you do not have the Push-to-Talk option enabled if you suddenly have problems.
Also, you just need to make sure your output and input devices (your speakers and microphone) are set up correctly and you should be able to get started. Most of these settings can be made in the "Voice Chat" portion of the Fortnite game client settings .
