In addition to the map and satellite view, Google Maps offers the option of displaying the map called up in 3D. This creates a better overview, especially in large cities. How to activate the 3D view in Google Maps

No additional tools need to be installed for the 3D mode of Google Maps. All you have to do is make sure your Google Maps app is up to date.

Smartphone

Follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the quick start guide ..

1st step:

Open the Google Maps app on your smartphone and tap on the symbol with the square in the upper right corner to open the menu with the map details .

2nd step:

Then tap on " 3D " to activate the option.

Then use two fingers and swipe up with them to change perspective. Then simply tilt your smartphone or slide your finger across the display to move around in the 3D view. Note : The 3D view only works in the " Standard " card type .

Desktop

Open Google Maps in the browser of your choice. Now click on " Satellite " at the bottom left to switch from the map to the satellite view.

Then move the cursor over the Layers button and select "More" .

Then activate the globe view in the menu that opens .

You can now easily switch to 3D mode via the " 3D " function surface.

  1. Open Google Maps on your smartphone, tap the symbol with the square in the upper right corner to open the map details and then activate the " 3D " option by tapping on it.
  2. Now swipe up with two fingers to change the perspective.

Quick start guide: Desktop

  1. Open Google Maps via https://www.google.de/maps .
  2. Click on " Satellite " at the bottom left and then on " More " in the menu
  3. Then check the box " Globe view " to activate it.
  4. You can then switch to Google's 3D mode using the " 3D " function .
