With the so-called active corners, you can quickly activate certain functions in macOS, such as the screen saver or the program overview. If you move the mouse into one of the four corners of the screen, a selected function is carried out directly - without complicated keyboard shortcuts or menus. This is often very practical and saves time. We will show you how you can configure the active corners according to your wishes.

How to configure the active corners on the Mac

1st step:

Open the System Preferences on your Mac, for example via the Spotlight search or the " Programs folder". Click on the item " Mission Control ".

Then go to " Active corners ... " at the bottom left .

Here you can now define an action for one or more of the four corners. To do this, click on the desired corner and select a function .

Tip : To prevent an action from being accidentally carried out when you move the mouse into the respective corner, you can set command keys as triggers . Then the respective function is only carried out if you hold down this key at the same time. For this you can use the [Cmd] , [Alt] or [Option] , [Ctrl] keys or a combination of the three. Hold down the button (s) while selecting a function as in step 3 .

If you are satisfied with the distribution of the functions, click on " OK " at the bottom right . If you now move the mouse pointer to a corner and, if necessary, press the specified key, your Mac will carry out the selected action.

  3. Define a desired action for one or more of the four corners of the screen .
