Stickers are a quick and fun way to convey thoughts and emotions on WhatsApp. You can find a whole range of sticker packs in the Google Play Store. But what if you want to create a sticker pack with your own pictures? You don't have to be an app developer to create your own sticker pack. All you need are a few pictures and an app will do the rest. And best of all: You can not only create your own stickers on an Android device, but also on the iPhone!

How to create stickers for WhatsApp

You can easily create stickers with the help of apps like " Sticker Studio ", " Sticker Maker " / " Sticker Maker for WhatsApp " or " Sticker.ly ", which remove the background for you and the images to the correct size of 512x512 cut to size. In these instructions we use the Sticker.ly app , which is available for both Android and iPhone and looks and works identically on both operating systems. You are of course free to choose which app you ultimately want to use. Follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the brief instructions ..

1st step:

image
To get started, first download the Sticker.ly app on your Android smartphone or iPhone. Then open the app and tap the "+" button in the lower toolbar to start creating WhatsApp stickers.

2nd step:

image
You can now see your picture gallery . Here, navigate to the album where you saved your desired photo and tap on it to select it. With the button " Several " you can select several images at the same time.

3rd step:

image
The picture is now opened in the editor. First, you will see the option to cut out the background. Here tap the " Auto " button . If your picture has a clear background and foreground, the app should use it to automatically remove all of the background. However, if the picture is tricky, like our example, you can tap the " Instructions " button .

4th step:

image
Then use your finger to outline the section you want . Don't worry, you can edit the section even further in the next step - so you don't have to put too much effort into it.

5th step:

image
You will now see the section you have selected or, if you have used the "Auto" function , the image with the background cut out. If you are not satisfied with the section, tap on " Adjust ". So you can customize your WhatsApp sticker exactly as you want.

6th step:

image
Now use your fingers to erase or restore parts of the image. The section is marked in blue. To remove some of the blue overlay, choose Delete . To expand the section, select " Restore ". If you are satisfied, tap on " Apply " at the bottom .

7th step:

image
You should now have the sticker template you want for your picture. If you want, you can use the " Text " option to add text to the sticker, or use " Emoji " to embellish the WhatsApp sticker with emojis.

8th step:

image
Enter the text you want, then move it around. You can also change the text style and color above your keyboard. When you're happy with the result, select the " Done " button in the top right corner.

9th step:

image
You can then move the text anywhere on your sticker. This works the same way with emojis.

10th step:

image
When you are finished with your WhatsApp sticker, tap on " Next " in the upper right corner .

11th step:

image
You can then add tags to your sticker. Then tap on " Save ".

12th step:

image
Since you have not yet created a sticker pack, tap on " New pack ". If you have already created packages, select the package here in which you would like to save your new sticker.

13th step:

image
Now choose a name for your sticker pack, add your "Creator" name and then tap the " Create " button .

14th step:

image
You have now successfully created your first WhatsApp sticker. To add it to WhatsApp, tap on the sticker. You can also add several stickers at the same time - but only if your package contains at least 3 stickers . In this case, you can simply tap the " Add to WhatsApp " button .

15th step:

image
Now tap on the WhatsApp symbol under the sticker .

16th step:

image
Then select " Add ".

17th step:

image
Your sticker has then been added to WhatsApp and can be used by you immediately.

18th step:

image
Simply open WhatsApp and open the sticker overview in the desired chat. Then select the sticker package symbol at the top. Now just tap on the sticker you have created to send it.

quick start Guide

  1. Install the Sticker.ly app on your smartphone and open it.
  2. Then tap on the "+" symbol in the lower toolbar.
  3. Now select the desired photo in your picture gallery , which you want to make a WhatsApp sticker. With the button " Several " you can select several images at the same time.
  4. You can now cut out the background in the editor. With " Auto " the app should automatically remove the entire background, provided your picture has a clear background and foreground. If this is not the case, you can tap the " Instructions " button to do this manually and select the desired section with your finger.
  5. You will then see the section of your picture. If you are not satisfied with this, tap on " Customize " to refine the section so that your WhatsApp sticker is optimal.
  6. Now use your fingers to erase or restore parts of the image that are highlighted in blue. Then tap " Apply ".
  7. You can then use the " Text " option to add text to the sticker or " Emoji " to add emojis to the sticker.
  8. Then choose an appropriate text or emoji. When you're happy with the result, select the " Done " button in the top right corner.
  9. You can then move the text or the emoji anywhere on your sticker.
  10. When you are finished with your WhatsApp sticker, tap on " Next " in the upper right corner .
  11. You can then add tags to your sticker. Here tap on " Save ".
  12. Now go to " New Package ".
  13. Then enter a name for the package and choose a "Creator" name . Then tap on " Create ".
  14. You can then add the sticker to WhatsApp by tapping on it and choosing the WhatsApp icon . Confirm the process with " Add ".
  15. You can also add several stickers at the same time - but only if your package contains at least 3 stickers . You can then just tap " Add to WhatsApp ".
  16. Your sticker has then been added to WhatsApp and can be used by you immediately. To do this, open the sticker overview in a WhatsApp chat and tap on your sticker to send it.
