If you look for the downloaded Audible files on your computer and drag them to your MP3 player for example, you will find that they cannot be played at all. Because when you download an audiobook from Audible, it is saved as a .aa or .aax file that cannot be recognized by other music players. But with a trick you can easily convert the files and play them anywhere.

How to Convert Audible Files to MP3

As we mentioned earlier, Audible books can only be saved in .aa or .aax format. There is no way to directly download Audible books in MP3 format. 1st step:

Open the Audible app on your computer and, if necessary, log in to your Amazon account. Load then the desired audio book download by selecting it and clicking on it.

2nd step:

After the audiobook is downloaded, click the gear icon in the lower left of the Audible application to open Settings . Then select the menu item " Downloads ".

3rd step:

Then click on " Open target folder in Explorer ".

4th step:

Your Explorer will then open in a new window. In the folder shown, you will now see all the downloaded Audible files on your computer.

5th step:

6th step:

Now add the Audible file you want to convert to the program. Simply select them in Explorer and then drag them into the Audiobook Converter.

7th step:

Now click on the " Convert " button at the bottom right .

8th step:

The program will now start converting the .aa file. Depending on the length and size of the file, this may take a while.

9th step:

When the conversion is done, click " History " in the lower left corner .

10th step:

Here you can now see the files that you have converted so far. If you move the mouse pointer over it, a folder symbol appears on the right . Click on it to open the file in Explorer.

11th step:

You will now see the MP3 file on your computer.

8. Then open the program.
9. Now drag the desired Audible file into the converter.
10. Then click on " Convert " at the bottom right .
11. The conversion of the file will then start. Depending on the length and size, the conversion may take a while.
12. After the conversion is successful, click on " History " at the bottom left .
13. Here you can now see the files that you have converted so far. Click here behind a file on the folder symbol which appears when you move the mouse pointer over the entry. Explorer will then open in which you can see the converted file.
