Typically, instant email delivery is seen as one of the great advantages of digital mail. If you want to send your message but want a certain delivery time, most e-mail providers now also offer a function with which you can deliver your e-mails to the recipient with a delay. In this article we will show you how to write e-mails with a delay.

Send emails with a time delay with Outlook

If you have not already done so, first set up your e-mail account in Outlook. To do this, you have to enter your access data in Outlook, in order to then connect your mail account. Read here how to create a new mailbox in Outlook. You can now compose your e-mails in Outlook and then specify the time of sending. To do this, first click on " New E-Mail ".

Now go to " Options " in the top menu bar .

Now click on the three-dot menu and then on " Delay transmission " in the drop-down menu that appears .

Set the transmission time by ticking the " Delay transmission until " box and specifying the desired time and date . Now click on " Close " and then on " Send ". Your message will then be sent at the set time.

Google's e-mail service Gmail offers the delayed sending of e-mails free of charge. In order to send a message with a delayed sending time, you must first write the desired mail. To do this, click on " Write ".

Then click on the small triangle to the right of the " Send " button .

Click on " Schedule sending " to open a new window in which you can set the time and date of the sending time .

You have the option of selecting preset times, such as " tomorrow morning at 8:00 am ", but user-defined input of the send data works just as well. To do this, click on " Select date and time ". If you confirm your entry, the e-mail will automatically be moved to the " Planned " folder and will be sent at the selected time. After it has been sent, it is located in the " Sent " folder as usual .

Send emails delayed with web.de Premium

If you are not a web.de Premium user, you can send emails via Outlook with a time delay. If you have a premium account, do the following:

  1. Write your e-mail as usual and then click on the clock symbol in the lower menu bar in the e-mail editor .
  2. The " Select sending time " window opens . Here you can set the sending time and date.
  3. Confirm your entry with " OK ".
  4. Then send your email. You will receive a notification that your e-mail will be delivered at the desired time.

Brief instructions: Send emails with a delay with gmx.de Premium

If you are not a gmx.de Premium user, you can send e-mails via Outlook with a time delay. If you have a premium account, do the following:

  1. Write your email and then go to the clock icon at the bottom of the menu bar.
  2. In the window that appears, you can now specify a transmission time with the date and time .
  3. Confirm with " OK " and send your email.
  4. Your email will remain in the outbox until the time it is sent . When the sending time is reached, the e-mail is moved to the " sent " folder.

  2. Click on " Options ", then click on the three- dot menu on the right and select " Delay Submission ".
  3. Set the send time and date in the delivery options and start sending your email.
