If you have a Spotify Premium subscription, you can save your favorite tracks and play them offline. While this is convenient, it can quickly use up your smartphone's memory. It can help to adjust the storage location on your Android smartphone and move your songs to your external SD card. But you can also change the storage location on your computer quickly and easily.

Change the Spotify storage location on the smartphone

1st step:

Open the Spotify app on your smartphone and tap the gear icon in the upper right corner to go to the settings.

Now scroll down to the bottom and then select " Storage ".

You can now choose between two options: device memory or SD card . By default, your offline content is saved on the internal memory of your smartphone. So if you want to change the location, tap on the option that is not selected. In our example this is " SD card ".

You will then receive a message on the display in which you should press " OK ".

Spotify will then start transferring your data to the location you selected. Depending on the size of your data, this can take a few minutes.

When Spotify finishes the process, the app will automatically restart. After doing this, you should see that the location has been changed successfully .

Open the Spotify desktop application on your computer and click on your profile picture in the upper right corner . Then select the entry " Settings " from the menu .

Now scroll down and click on " Show advanced settings ".

You can then choose a new location on your computer. Then click on " OK ".

Then you have to " restart the app ". The location is then successfully changed and your data will be moved to the location you selected.

  1. Open the settings in the Spotify app by tapping the gear in the top right corner .
  2. Then go to " Storage " at the bottom.
  3. Then select the desired option as the storage location and then confirm the transfer of your data with " OK ".
  4. When the transfer is complete, the app will restart and your location will be successfully changed.

  1. Open the settings in the Spotify desktop application by opening the menu in the top right corner of your profile picture and selecting the appropriate entry.
  2. Under the advanced settings click on the " Change location " button .
  3. Then choose a desired location on your computer and click OK .
  4. Then click on " Restart the app ". The location is then changed.
