On your Mac, you can customize the folder icons according to your needs. Change the color of the order symbol or define your own image as the symbol. You can find out how this works in this guide.

How to change a folder icon on a Mac

Follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the brief instructions .

1st step:

Right- click on the folder whose icon you want to change. Then select " Information ".

2nd step:

This will open an overview window for the folder. Click the folder icon in the upper left so that it has a blue border. Then press the key combination [Cmd] + [C] .

3rd step:

Now open the “ Preview ” program. You can either do the Spotlight search or open the " Programs " folder in Finder and double-click on " Preview ".

Don't be surprised: when you start the preview, no window will open at first. In the menu bar at the top, click on " File "> " New from clipboard ".

You will now see the folder icon and can customize it to your liking. If you click on " Tools "> " Color Correction ... ", you can adjust the color of the icon. Use the "color tone" option for this purpose, for example. When you click " view " "> Show Toolbar click" and you can add text, shapes, etc..

If you are satisfied with your editing, press the key combination [Cmd] + [C] again .

Now switch back to the Finder, click again with the right mouse button on the desired folder and select " Information ".
