How to enable read receipts in Apple Mail

As mentioned earlier, you need an external program to request read receipts in Apple Mail. "Mailbutler", which is free of charge when used occasionally, is ideal for this purpose. You can use the tool to request up to 20 read confirmations per month free of charge - for more you have to use one of the paid subscription models. Unfortunately, this does not work with the mail app on the iPhone or iPad.

1st step

Open the website www.mailbutler.io and click on " Get Started " in the upper right corner .

2nd step

Enter your email address and name and, for private use, set the company size to " It's just me ". Select the Apple Mail symbol , assign a password and click on “ Signup for free trial ”.

3rd step

Mailbutler will now be downloaded as a program. Open your downloads and start the program.

4th step

In order to be able to use the program, you must first install the Mailbutler plug- in. To do this, click “ Install Now ” and enter your Mac password to confirm.

After the installation you can activate the plugin. To do this, open Apple Mail , click on " Mail " in the menu bar and then on " Settings ".

You cannot request a read receipt directly in the Apple Mail app on the iPhone. However, "Mailbutler" also offers an app in the App Store. You can also use this to send e-mails with read receipts on your iPhone or iPad.

Unfortunately, the app is not permanently free and not only limited in functionality, as is the case with the Mac program. After a 14-day trial period, you need to take out one of the subscriptions in order to continue using the app.

1st step

Download the “ Mailbutler ” app from the App Store and open it. Then tap on “ Register ”.

So that you can send a new e-mail, you must first enter your e-mail address . It works just like logging into a normal e-mail program: tap on one of the suggested e-mail providers if you have an account with them, or alternatively select " Another e-mail account ... ". 1. Open www.mailbutler.io and click on “ Get Started ”.
2. Register to download the program.
3. Mailbutler is now loading. Open the program from Downloads.
