So that you can change the transparency of images in your PowerPoint presentation, you cannot insert them directly as a graphic, but have to go a little detour which, however, entails many more setting options.

Change the transparency of an image in PowerPoint

To make an image transparent, you need to include it as a shape in your presentation. Since there are a large number of predefined shapes in PowerPoint, inserting an image as a shape works without any problems. You can even use shapes like stars, arrows, or banners for your images. In the following example we stick to a standard rectangular shape . Follow our step-by-step instructions , the quick start guide or the explanatory video ..

1st step:

image
Open PowerPoint and create a new presentation or use a presentation that you have already created. Select the slide that you want to place the image on. Then click the Insert tab at the top and select Shapes .

2nd step:

image
Decide on a shape (we choose the rectangle in our example) and create this shape on the slide with the left mouse button pressed . Adjust the size and right click on the shape. Select " Format Shape ... " from the menu.

3rd step:

image
The " Format graphic " menu appears on the right . Under " Filling ", click on " Image or texture filling ". Then select the " File ... " area for " Insert picture from ". Find the picture you want to insert on your computer and click Open .

4th step:

The picture is now inserted in the previously defined form. You can now move the slider on the right next to " Transparency " and thereby adjust the strength of the effect.
