PowerPoint includes a feature that makes it easy to add audio to your presentations..

If you are not giving a live PowerPoint presentation, you can add audio to it beforehand and record a voiceover. How it works? PowerPoint has a function with which you can create narration for all slides.

How to add audio to your PowerPoint presentation

The process is practically the same for Mac and PC users, and you can use your computer's built-in microphone or a headset. Follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the brief instructions .

1st step:

Open the PowerPoint presentation in which you want to add a voiceover. Go to the "tab Slide Show " and select under " Setup ," select " slide show to record ."

A drop-down menu will appear. Here you can choose whether you want to start the narration from the beginning or from the current slide . If you want to start the recording from the current slide, make sure that you are on the slide from which you want to start it. We have selected the option "Record from the beginning ... ".

You can then choose which functions are to be recorded before recording. Then click on " Start recording ".

You are now in full screen mode. You will notice that there are some additional tools displayed in the top left . There you can control your presentation and pause if necessary . With the curved arrow you can start the recording again for the current slide.

You can use the arrow keys to navigate your presentation. When you move to the next slide, the left timer in the upper left restarts to show how much time has passed on the current slide . The timer on the right shows you the total time of your presentation. If you go back a slide , the capture for it will be reset and you can recapture the slide.

When you are finished with your recording, simply press the [Esc] key . A speaker icon will now appear in the lower right corner of each slide.

You can save your recording on each slide play by clicking on the icon and the playback button press.

You can also move the icon anywhere on your slide and adjust its size .

If you are happy with your presentation and the sound, you can export it so that you can share it as a file with others.

quick start Guide

  1. Open the desired PowerPoint presentation and select the " Slide Show " tab at the top .
  2. Then click the " Setup " option " slide show to record ."
  3. Then choose whether you want to start recording from the beginning or from the current slide .
  4. Before you start recording, you can choose which functions are to be recorded.
  5. Then click on " Start recording ".
  6. You will then switch to full screen mode and in the top left you will find some additional tools for controlling and pausing your presentation.
  7. Use the arrow keys to switch between PowerPoint slides. The timers in the top left indicate how long you've been on the current slide and in the entire presentation .
  8. If you go back a slide , the capture for it will be reset and you can recapture the slide.
  9. When you are finished, press the [Esc] key .
  10. A loudspeaker symbol is now displayed in the lower right corner of each PowerPoint slide. You can use it to listen to your recording. You can also move the symbol as you like and change its size.
  11. When you are happy with your PowerPoint presentation and the sound, you can export it .
