Reset Chrome extensions without restarting the browser

If you're having trouble with any of the Chrome extensions and want to restart one independently without having to restart the browser , this is possible. This way we will keep all the tabs open and not lose any of our work.

Sometimes the extensions work badly or simply slow down the browser causing us to lose memory or simply crashing and stopping working; this can happen even in the best browsers. In that case, restarting a Chrome extension is a good idea to fix those errors. Luckily, there is a way to do it without having to close the browser and lose all open windows and tabs..

In the following guide, we will see step by step how to achieve it and it will not take you more than a few seconds. It is much simpler than you imagine.

Reset Chrome extensions without restarting the browser

The first thing we will do is open Google Chrome. In any tab, we will have to click on the puzzle icon that is in the upper right corner, just to the left of our profile icon. Additionally, we can open the extensions menu by clicking on the three dots and selecting More tools > Extensions..

When the “Extensions” menu appears, we are going to click on “Manage Extensions”.

Next, the "Extensions" tab will open and we will be able to view each one that we have installed in Google Chrome. We will have to locate the name of the extension that we want to restart and click on the switch in the lower right corner of it to deactivate it..

After this, we are going to have to click the switch again to activate it again. In this way we restart the extension without having to restart the browser. It is a simple way to save ourselves the trouble of restarting Chrome, something that, on some occasions, we will not be able to do.

Obviously, if you have any kind of doubt regarding starting Chrome extensions , you can leave it in the comment box that you will find a little further down and we will be happy to help you solve it. We hope this guide has been useful to you.
