Set up Universal Control on Mac
On our Mac we will click on the Apple icon in the upper left of the screen. A new menu is displayed where we will have to click on System Preferences.
Once we are in System Preferences, we are going to select “Screens”..
Here we will click on "Advanced" located in the lower right to open the Universal Control configuration.
We will have to check the boxes: Allow the cursor and keyboard to move on any nearby Mac or iPad; Push across the edge of a screen to connect to a nearby Mac or iPad; and Automatically reconnect to any nearby Mac or iPad. In this way we can enable Universal Control completely..
How to enable Universal Control on iPad
For iPad, we'll start by opening the Settings app.
We go to the left sidebar and click on General, then we go to Display and Handoff, an option that we will find in the right panel.
Next, we are going to click on the switch that appears next to Cursor and keyboard (Beta) in order to enable Universal Control.
And that would be all, in this way we can configure Universal Control on Mac and iPad to be able to use it on both devices. The only thing left to do is position both side by side and use the touchpad from any device; we can drag it to the other to use it. In case it still doesn't work, we'll just restart both devices and it should work fine.
How to adjust or disable Universal Control on Mac
We can also change the alignment of the devices, even disable it by following the same steps. On our Mac, we start by clicking the Apple icon at the top left of the screen; in the menu that appears, let's go to System Preferences.
Now we will have to click on “Screens”.
Here we can rearrange the screens as we are comfortable. Simply, we will have to drag and drop them according to our needs and it will be configured immediately. In case we want to disable Universal Control, we will have to click on Display Settings.
We click on “Advanced” in the left sidebar and we will have to uncheck the three options that we can see on the right side. By simply doing this, we have already managed to disable Universal Control.
