Yesterday my cell phone fell and the screen suddenly went black and the image did not appear again until several seconds later. It was somewhat inconsistent and a bug that was difficult to reproduce. After taking it to the service center, they took it apart and found that the fault was the screen's video socket, which was broken..

The cell phone screen suddenly turns black because the phone loses the video signal, due to an internal physical failure. Despite this, the touch can continue to work. If you touch the screen when it is black, the touches will be performed normally, but you will have no image. This will not be solved with a factory reset , because it is not a software problem, at least not after the failure occurs after a fall, blow or strong pressure, especially if the phone has already been dropped several times and use.

This is particularly true on mid-range or low-end phones, like in my case the Samsung Galaxy A52 . This particular phone is prone to black screen failure, since the video socket, where the flex that carries the video signal to the processor is connected, is barely protected by a plastic sheet. Above there is only the back panel of the phone, which is thin and plastic, so a fall can easily transmit the blow to the internal components, specifically to this lower section of the phone where said socket is..

Detecting this broken socket on the screen, or on the mobile phone in general, is a challenge for someone who is not experienced. The breakage or deformation is so negligible that a microscope is required to see the problem. Still, I personally couldn't appreciate the problem at first glance. The solution is just as surgical, other than requiring a heat gun to remove the broken socket and replace it with another. Repairing the damaged socket can certainly be attempted, something that would lower the cost of repair, but it is quite difficult to do. After trying that, the screen just lit up with a shower of colored stripes and dots.

The big risk of this repair is that, in the event that the socket tracks are damaged during replacement, the only solution is to change the screen, the price of which can be around $200 in the case of my Samsung Galaxy A52, a cost that is especially high for having the fingerprint sensor on the screen..

The moral of this problem is to always use a good protector or case for your phone. In a mid-range or low-range cell phone, its construction in every sense is lower quality than high-end phones. They are more likely to fail after reasonable mistreatment.
