Flash
is one of those technologies that was very important at the time, but could not be part of the modernization of the web, therefore much content in this format is quite heavy and annoying when we are browsing.
It frequently causes our
Safari
browser to fail and cut off the enjoyment of our use, therefore before we get frustrated we can opt for a quite optimal solution and it is simply to
prevent Flash from running
and causing us problems.
Disable Flash
The first step we can follow to eliminate
Flash
from our navigation is to download a
Plugin
that will allow us to disable this plugin when a web page requests to send content of this type.
For this we will download the
ClickToFlash
add-
on
available in
Github
, if we do not know it, a quick search in Google will take us to it, whose author is Marc Hoyois, we will proceed to download the file as any other, once downloaded, we must install it doing double click on the file that we have downloaded.
Once the installation is complete we can see a new option in the preferences of our
Safari
browser, this can be seen in the following image:
As we see the add-on not only allows us to remove
Flash
from our navigation, but we can also adjust that we want to eliminate and not, so that we can have a fully customized experience.
Remove Flash Definitely
Although
ClickToFlash
is pretty good as a complement, websites that use Flash are still able to know that we have this installed in our system, so they will also try to serve this content.
If we have already made the decision that we do not want more content in Flash, we will be able to achieve a web without it, this when we
uninstall it from our system for good
.
But we should not fear that we will lose content by uninstalling it, much of the content is also available in
HTML 5
for mobile devices, so if a page knows that we do not have Flash, it will serve us an alternative to the content so that we will not only lose content, if not we will help show that there is no need for the use of Flash on the modern web.
To
uninstall Flash
, we must visit the adobe website and locate the
Flash Player
uninstaller , we can also resolve this with a quick visit to Google, once we locate the version corresponding to our system we run it and after completing the process we proceed to delete the residual files, these are usually in our
Library
folder.
With this we will already have a free
Flash system
and we make sure we have a free browsing experience of this type of content as well, with which we finalized this tutorial, also clarifying that not everything is bad in Flash, but that the way in which Adobe has been evolving its tool has given many problems, this added to that is not an open standard preventing the community to make improvements, so the option of
HTML 5
is a much more stable and less problematic.
