Adobe InDesign is a tool used to design, edit and layout documents. It also allows creating newspapers, magazines, books, brochures and documents for electronic distribution.
You can create and manipulate documents and files through different elements of the program such as panels, bars and windows.

The arrangement of these elements is called as workspaces.
To hide or show the panels you must press the tabulator key, to always leave the panel of tools visible, you must press the capital keys + tabulator. To save a customized workspace, go to the menu window à workspace à new workspace.

When you are going to design interactive documents you should think in pixels since the computer monitor is guided by the resolution of things.
On the other hand, Adobe InDesign presents a unit of measure in the preferences that are within the general picture:

The ideal is to set preferences in advance to start working on the documents with that unit of measure.

Another aspect to take into account is the transparency merge space that must be configured in RGB (red-green-blue) since the interactive document will not be destined to print on paper.
To configure it, go to the menu Edit> transparency configuration space> Document RGB.

If the transparency merge is not previously configured, problems may be experienced when the document is exported.

Local and global preferences
So that the preferences that are made are applied to all the documents from that moment, you must have the program without any active document:

Kuler to create color samples
To enable it, go to the window menu à extensions à kuler, there you can see a series of options that allow you to add color samples to the sample palette.
Just select the sample that appears in kuler and add it to the color sample.

It should be noted that the Kuler option will connect to the Internet (you must have a connection)
