How to put an iPad into recovery mode
- Check that your iPad has enough charge. If necessary, recharge it.
- Connect your iPad to your computer.
- Open iTunes.
- Press and hold the Sleep / Wake button and the Home button simultaneously. This will force the iPad to restart. Don't stop pressing until you see the iPad recovery mode screen.
- You will see the menu of the recovery mode of the iPad with the options of Restore and Update. Choose the update. iTunes will try to reinstall iOS. Don't worry about your data, iTunes will take care not to delete it. If the process takes more than 15 minutes, repeat all the previous steps, but now, in step 5, choose the Restore option. You will have your device in iPad restore mode.
- Set up your device.
Remember that if you have made a backup of your Apple device, either in iTunes or in iCloud, you can recover your old data.
Note: these steps are valid for iPad 2, 3 and mini.
