Last summer, Apple was singled out for using Siri to listen to users' conversations without their knowledge. Since iOS 13.2, it is possible to prevent this practice.

Pointed at by many specialists and users, Apple hastened to rectify the situation regarding the Siri listening scandal, which erupted in July 2019. Indeed, if Siri is programmed to react to the phrase "Dis Siri ”, many users had had the unfortunate surprise of seeing their personal assistant wake up when they had not requested it. Faced with these accusations, Apple had no choice but to react.

So, after admitting that this listening system existed to improve Siri performance, the Cupertino company added a new option when iOS 13.2 was released. This feature allows you to choose whether or not to share with Apple our use of Siri and the Dictation function.

To deactivate this sharing of rather private data, the option is found in the phone settings, Confidentiality section. Then go to the Analysis and Improvements section, where you can find a set of check tabs concerning the data you share with Apple. The tab for Siri is therefore "Improve Siri and Dictation". By unchecking this box, you prevent Apple from storing the audio data of your interactions with Siri and Dictation.

If you had previously authorized this sharing of information, you can also delete this data transfer history. This deletion is possible by returning to the main settings screen, then in "Siri and search". Then go to the "Siri and Dictation History", and delete the history there.

This will erase all traces of your reports with Siri stored on Apple's servers.
