Apple smartphones have a feature that allows you to share your location in an emergency with people you trust. A feature which can obviously be very useful in certain situations. We will explain how to configure it and activate it in due time.
Emergency call to 112
On iPhone with iOS11 and newer, it is possible to activate an emergency call. A very useful function which will have two effects. The first is actually to call an emergency number - 112 - and the second will be to share its location with emergency contacts previously registered as such.
To launch such a call on an iPhone 8 and newer, simply press the right side button and one of the volume buttons simultaneously to bring up a new screen indicating "Emergency call". Then, just drag the cursor corresponding to the emergency call to activate it.
If the manipulation is not possible, you just have to continue holding the two keys pressed (side button and the volume button) until the end of the countdown.
The function is also available on iPhones inside the iPhone 8, but you must have version 11 of iOS. To launch an emergency call, press the side button 5 times. Again, this will also have the effect of telephoning 112 and sending the emergency location to previously registered contacts.
Configure contacts to join
To be able to contact the people to be contacted in the event of an emergency, it is imperative to have previously informed them. To add an emergency contact, go to the Health application on your iPhone, open the "Medical file" tab and press "modify", at the top right.
At the bottom of this page, you will find the list of emergency contacts to contact when the "Emergency call" function is activated. You can add multiple contacts. They will receive a message indicating that you have called for help and that you are in an emergency situation. The message they will receive will also indicate the position of your iPhone.
A very useful feature that can truly save lives or avoid dramas.
