How to rename a user in macOS Big Sur

The use of user accounts in macOS Big Sur is something that is basic since it requires access with a profile to be able to fully explore the system and be able to perform tasks such as managing the computer or installing software. For this reason we can create different accounts in macOS if it is the case to identify each user who has to access it, but at the moment when one of these Mac users leaves or simply if we want to edit their name, we can find that we do not see the way to do it, for this reason TechnoWikis will explain to you in a simple but effective way how to change the name of an account in macOS Big Sur..

These instructions tell how to change the displayed user name, but not the Unix username as displayed in $whoami. Is that as simple as changing the other field in the Advanced Options dialog?
