Lock your watch to preserve the confidentiality of your data Activate the Apple Watch lock code
We always say that it only happens to others until the day when the others are you. Losing or having your connected watch stolen means giving part of your digital life to a stranger. Protecting the personal data contained in the Apple Watch has therefore become an imperative. How to go about it ?
Lock your watch to preserve the confidentiality of your data
In recent years, connected objects have experienced unprecedented success. Surveillance cameras, drones, watches, we can no longer count the number of high-tech products intended to improve our daily lives. Contrary to what connected watches might believe, all of them keep a series of personal data. It is therefore essential to secure your Apple Watch with a lock code. Unlike a smartphone, you will not be required to enter your secret code each time you turn on your watch screen. You will only be asked to do this in three specific cases: when you start your watch, if you lock it manually or if you remove the Apple Watch from your wrist..
Activate the Apple Watch lock code
The Apple Watch natively integrates a function allowing to secure all your personal information . Here is the procedure to follow to set a code on the Apple smartwatch.
- Double click on the side digital crown located at the top right of the watch face
- Select the Gear Settings icon
- Click on Code and then on Activate Code
- Then enter your 4-digit password using the touch screen keyboard (it is advisable to choose a different lock code than the one used on your iPhone)
- You will then be asked to confirm your code
- Your lock code is now operational
To verify that the operation was carried out correctly, you just need to manually lock the Apple Watch. For that:
- Press the side button to turn off the watch until the shutdown menu appears
- Select the locked option
- Then wake up your Apple Watch
- Enter your lock code to use your watch
