Summer, pool, water, beach, soft drinks, laughter, distractions ... And a wet mobile in the blink of an eye. Obviously it is not a rule or a wish on our part (it would be more) but, unfortunately, we are not free to suffer an accident of this type..

It is a situation that has occurred and may occur in the future, who knows, so it is best to be proactive: What do we have to do to save (or at least try) a smartphone that has taken a good dip?

Don't turn on your phone, don't be in a rush to use it yet

If we suffer an unfortunate accident in which our precious smartphone gets wet, first of all, we must avoid turning it on , under no circumstances, since the liquid inside it could trigger a short circuit in its circuits and break it definitively and without remedy.

Be careful, if we apply heat with a dryer, we could damage the circuits, but if we think about applying too much cold, that is, putting it in the freezer, the environment itself would cause it to store ice, and later the water inside it would melt again. We would only make the problem worse ..

Say "goodbye" to the guarantee and "hello" to your ingenuity

The first direct consequence after spilling a liquid on our smartphone or dipping it in water is, in addition to its possible malfunction, the instantaneous loss of the guarantee of the vast majority of manufacturers. Even if a smartphone is designed to withstand immersion or splashing, it can usually hold up to a certain limit.

We only have to be inventive and resort to the most necessary solutions quickly, to avoid exposing our device as much as possible to the effects of water / liquid and its corrosion..

1. React fast

In the first instance, the reaction to remove the smartphone from the water or remove it should be as fast as possible . Ideally, you should have fresh water, if the liquid is coffee, soda, beer or salt water, the chances of saving it will be considerably reduced.

2. Remove the pieces

Take it apart as much as possible : separate the covers, battery, memory and SIM cards, let each piece dry separately, and even use a suitable cloth, such as a microfiber one (they will do this faster). Of course, never use a dryer or any element that adds heat or cold, at most try to use a handheld vacuum cleaner, in case it can remove some drops.

3. Use silica gel or rice

The final step would be to immerse our ill-fated terminal in a bowl with silica gel (those little white bags with balls that accompany new shoes and other objects) or rice (yes, rice). Both rice and silica gel have the property of absorbing all the moisture around them without damaging the device. There are also bags for sale prepared for this purpose, filled with silica gel, and reusable, in case we are unlucky enough to suffer this accident several times.

4. Wait about 48 hours and turn it on

Finally, we would have to be patient, quite patient. We know that it is hard to endure 24 or 48 hours (recommended before trying to turn it on) without being able to touch our precious smartphone, but it will be even worse not being able to use it again.
