Discovered a new series on Netflix? Of course, you would like to see them together with your partner or friends. You can read here how you can connect a TV to your Apple MacBook. The easiest way is with Apple AirPlay. Doesn't your TV have that? Then you use an HDMI cable. So you can watch your favorite series and films on the big screen of your TV.
Connect a TV to your MacBook
You have two options for connecting a TV to your Apple MacBook:
- Connect through AirPlay
- Connect with an HDMI cable
Connect via AirPlay
The easiest way to stream your videos to your TV is through AirPlay. If you have Apple TV or a Smart TV that supports AirPlay, you can instantly stream all of your videos to your TV. You also use AirPlay to duplicate the screen from your MacBook on your TV. Without much effort with cables.
- Click the AirPlay icon in the top right corner of your MacBook.
- Select your TV from the list and start streaming.
Connect with an HDMI cable
If you don't have an Apple TV or a smart TV that supports AirPlay, use a DisplayPort or HDMI cable. Newer models of Apple MacBook do not have an HDMI port. You need a cable adapter for this.
- Connect the HDMI cable (with cable adapter) to your MacBook.
- Connect your MacBook to the TV using the HDMI cable.
- Click the Source button on your remote control and select the correct HDMI port.
