The sleep timer in Spotify ensures that your music does not continue playing all night, even if you are already asleep. Setting up the timer is easy - we'll show you how to do it.

How to enable sleep timer in Spotify

Activating the sleep timer works the same on iPhone and Android devices. Follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the quick start guide .

1st step:

If the music or podcast is running for which you want to fall asleep, tap the bottom of the strip " Now Playing ".

Now select the three dots in the top right corner of the screen .

Then scroll down the menu and then tap on " Sleep Timer ". If you are currently listening to a podcast, the symbol for the sleep timer is already in the playback window on the right edge.

You can then set the length of time after which Spotify should stop the music. You can choose between 5, 10, 15, 30, 45 and 60 minutes. There is also an option " After the song has ended " or " After the episode has ended ".

Once you have selected a desired length of time, Spotify will display the message " Your sleep timer is set ". You can now sleep with the conscience that the music won't play all night.

If you would like to end the sleep timer early, open the menu for the timer again and then tap on the entry " Switch off timer ".

  1. Play a song or podcast in Spotify, then open the playback window by tapping the current track at the bottom.
  2. Then open the three-point menu at the top right and then select the " Sleep Timer" entry from the menu . During playback of a podcast , you will find the symbol in the playback window on the right-hand side.
  3. You can now choose the length of time after which Spotify should stop the music. In addition to specific minutes, you will also find the options " After the song has ended " or " After the episode has ended ". After selecting a period of time, your sleep timer is activated.
  4. If you want to end the sleep timer early, open the menu for the timer again and then tap on " Switch off timer ".
