You can easily replace one color with another using the free GIMP photo editor. We show how it's done!

Suppose you took a nice picture, but one of the colors in it is not what you wanted. You can let the GIMP find all instances of a color and replace them with another. The variety of tools available in the GIMP allows you to replace one color in an image with another in a variety of ways.

Using the Color Swap Option

This method is used to replace the solid pixels from one color to another. However, if the image contains some pixels that are different from the color you selected, those pixels will not be converted to a different color. So make sure that the pixels you are changing are of a similar color. You can also repeat this method several times and select all the different colors in one shade to replace them.

Open the image in GIMP, then click the " Colors " menu at the top and select " Map " and " Color Swap ".

In our example we want to change the color of the left rectangle, so we click on it and choose a pink color. This will then be black, as this is the standard color selected for the swap.

You can then select the desired color using the various color pickers or simply set the RGB values . You can also use the eyedropper symbol to select an existing color from your image. Replace colors with the Bucket Tool

As in most programs, the bucket tool is commonly used to add / change colors in an area of ​​an image. Most of the users are familiar with this tool because it is also used in Microsoft Paint, one of the most common programs. The bucket tool works best with solid colors.

In the GIMP, open the image that you want to edit. Then click the menu " Tools " and select the category " Selection Tools ", select " Select By Color ".
