Sometimes it may be necessary to use straight lines when drawing in the GIMP. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to draw these by hand. You should therefore use the tool supplied when editing images. Here is a quick guide to how to do this.

Draw a straight line in GIMP

1st step:

In the GIMP, select the tool with which you want to create the lines. The toolbox is in the top left of the GIMP. As a rule, the " Brush " tool is used for this selection . At the top right you can adjust further details of your tool, such as the type or width in pixels. If you choose the icon that looks like a small square, you can draw very fine lines. Then set a single point in your file with a click. This is the starting point for your line. Then move the mouse to the point where you want your line to end - without clicking. Press the [Shift] key or the [Shift] Key on your keyboard and hold it down while clicking the mouse again.

2nd step:

Now your line will be drawn automatically. If necessary, you can use this tool to trace existing lines to make them thicker or to superimpose a different shade of color.
