A group on Steam has not always developed the way you imagined it would. In the following we will show you how you can delete a group or a group chat. But very important: you cannot delete both types of groups manually. In order for a group to be deleted, all of its members must be exited.

Remove the Steam group from the community

1st step:

If the last member leaves the community group, it will be deleted automatically and immediately. If you are not the last member of the group, ask the other members beforehand to leave the group as well. If you are the administrator of the site, you can also remove all other members manually beforehand. Call up the group overview. You can get there by first selecting your username (above next to "Community") in the Steam client and then clicking on " Groups ". You will now see all of your groups. Click on " Leave group " for the group to be deleted .

2nd step:

Click on " Leave group " to confirm that you really want to leave the group. Your group should now be completely deleted and no longer available under the group link.

1st step:

Ask all other members to leave the existing group chat if there are other members in your chat besides you. Then open the chat and click the balloon and gear icon in the upper right corner .

2nd step:

Now click on the red lettering " Leave group chat " at the bottom left .

3rd step:

Confirm that you want to leave the group. To do this, click on " Exit " again. If you were the last member of this group conversation, the conversation will then be automatically deleted. By the way: Written chat messages within the group chat are always deleted after a certain period of time - regardless of whether the group still exists.

Quick start: Remove group chat

1. It is best if you are the last remaining member of the chat. For example, ask the other members to leave the group. Then open the group chat that you want to delete.
2. Click on the speech bubble with the gear symbol in the upper right corner .
3. Then select " Leave Group Chat " in the lower left corner . Confirm this by again on " Exit click". The chat is automatically deleted as soon as the last chat member leaves the group.
