Since it is not possible to expand PDF files with common PDF readers, you have to use a special program. Either you use a website for this or you can download a program to your PC if you have concerns about data protection. In the following we present the two providers " Smallpdf" (online offer for all operating systems) and " PDF24 Creator" (download for Windows):

Merge PDFs online

There are several tools available to join PDF files online. These include, for example, PDF24 , ilovepdf and SmallPDF . We explain the process using SmallPDF as an example. Follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the brief instructions .

1st step:

Open this link to join PDF files at Smallpdf . Click on " Select file " to upload the PDFs you want.

2nd step:

Your PDFs will now appear side by side. You can then upload additional files using the "Add PDFs" button. With the mouse button held down, you can move the PDF pages into the desired order. When you are in the document view, you will see your PDFs as a whole ...

3rd step:

... in the side view you can see the individual sheets of your files.

4th step:

You can now arrange the individual pages (side view) or the entire PDFs (document view) in any order ...

Various programs are available for offline use to combine PDF files into one document. There are, for example, 7-PDF Split And Merge, PDF SAM (PDF Split and Merge) and PDF24 Creator. In the following we explain to you an example of how it works with PDF24 Creator. Follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the brief instructions ..

1st step:

First download the PDF24 Creator . Install the program by following the instructions. Then open the PDF24 Creator and click on " PDF Creator ".

2nd step:

You can now see your folders in the left column. From there, find the PDF files that you want to combine . Drag and drop the file into the black edit field by holding down the left mouse button on the file. You can also change the order of the files by holding down the mouse button .

3rd step:

Now click on the icon with the two intertwined circles in the menu at the top .

4th step:

Your PDFs are then merged. You can now remove pages that should not be part of the new PDF file . Here we explain how to delete individual PDF pages.

5th step:

Now click on the floppy disk symbol at the top to save your new PDF.

6th step:

This will open a window with many setting options. You can ignore this page and simply click on " Next " in the lower right corner.

7th step:

In the next window you can now change the name of the new PDF and select the storage location . Then click on " Save ".
