If PDF documents contain watermarks, this can significantly impair the legibility of the document. However, there is a free way to remove most watermarks from PDF files with the help of online tools. In this article, we will show you how to remove watermarks from PDF files quickly and easily.

How to remove watermarks from PDF files

In order to remove a watermark from a PDF file using free means, you must first convert the document to Word format. You can do this very easily with the online tool Smallpdf we use. You can then remove the watermark in the generated Word file with just a few clicks. In our instructions we use Microsoft Word for this, but it works just as well with the free alternative from OpenOffice.

1st step:

First of all, you need to convert the PDF file to Word format. Use the online tool Smallpdf for this . Drag the PDF file into the highlighted area.

2nd step:

Choose Convert to Word, then choose Choose an Option .

Now download the converted file and open it in Word.

Click the watermark . Often it can be selected as a whole element and deleted with [Del] . Alternatively, you can click into the text of the watermark with the cursor and delete it like normal text.

Once the watermark has been removed, convert the Word document back into a PDF file. Click on "File" ...

... and then on " Export" and select " Create PDF Document ". Your PDF is now watermarked.
