Here's how to create a ZIP file on Windows..

Sending large files, amounts of data or multiple folders - this is very easy and space-saving with the help of ZIP files. The ZIP format is one of the most widely used data compression formats. This allows you to archive several files or folders that belong together in a common folder. In this article we will show you how you can create a ZIP on your Windows computer.

How to compress one of your files

Follow our step-by-step instructions , the quick start guide or the explanatory video .

1st step:

Open Windows Explorer and select the file that you want to save as a ZIP. This also applies to multiple files or folders.

2nd step:

Right- click on one of the selected files, click on " Send To " and then on " ZIP Compressed Folder ".

3rd step:

The ZIP file is then created in the same location and has the title of the last file that was marked. Windows will automatically offer you to rename the ZIP folder . For subsequent renaming, you can either double-click on the ZIP folder title or right-click and " Rename ".

Tip: To prevent unauthorized persons from unpacking your file, you can protect the ZIP file with a password. Here we show you how it's done..
