Barcodes - also called barcodes - are made up of simple black and white patterns that reveal encrypted information when scanned by a barcode reader . This information can be, for example, a price, name, address, telephone number, product number or even a personal message. It's relatively easy to make your own barcode for free.

How to create your own barcode online

The easiest way to create a barcode is to use a website - in our example Barcode TEC-IT . This barcode generator is free and can generate barcodes in all common formats in no time at all. Of course, you can also use another generator that suits you better.

Otherwise, open the website https://barcode.tec-it.com/de in a browser of your choice. Now select the desired barcode format from the menu section " Linear Codes " on the left. Most of the barcode scanner apps in use read all of these available barcode formats. The most common format is Code-128 , which can encode letters as well as numbers..

In the " Data " field, enter the content of your barcode that you would like to display after scanning. Then click on " Update " to generate your barcode. With the " Download " button you can then download the barcode you have created and save it on your computer. If you now use a scanner with the barcode, you will get exactly the text that you defined earlier.
