With the help of so-called skills, you can adapt the capabilities of Amazon's Alexa to your personal preferences. With them you can e.g. B. Control smart home lamps, call a taxi or play recipes. With every new skill, your language assistant learns something new and can support you better in everyday life. We'll show you exactly how downloading works in our article:

Note: If you already have a certain skill in mind, Alexa can take care of the installation itself. Simply speak to your device with " Alexa, open ... " and the skill will be activated automatically.

We have put together some suggestions for useful Alexa skills for you here. These include, for example, the Wikipedia link or a weather report, as well as a waste calendar or noises to help you fall asleep.

Our instructions show you how to search for and activate skills in the Alexa app . Follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the brief instructions ..

1st step:

Open the Amazon Alexa app and tap the menu icon (☰) in the top left corner of the start screen .

2nd step:

In the menu that now appears, tap on " Skills and Games ".

3rd step:

You can then search for a specific keyword in the search field or look for skills under " Categories ".

4th step:

This takes you to a menu with several options. Tap on a category from which you would like to download a skill. We choose " Eat & Drink " as an example .

5th step:

A large number of skills will now be presented to you here. We decide on the chef skill and tap it.

6th step:

The skill is described in more detail in a new window and suggestions for interactions with Alexa are given. Here tap on " Activate for use " to install the skill.

7th step:

You can find your activated skills at the top right under " Your Skills ".

1. Open the Amazon Alexa app and tap the menu icon (☰) in the top left of the start screen.
2. In the menu tap on " Skills and Games ".
3. Enter a keyword in the search field or tap " Categories " to browse.
4. Select your desired skill in the category.
5. A new page opens with suggestions for interaction and explanations of the skill . Here tap on " Activate for use ".
6. If you tap on " Your Skills " in the top right corner of the app's start screen , you will find the currently activated app under " Recently added ".
