Telegram is probably one of the most popular alternatives to the WhatsApp messenger service. But you can not only use the messenger on your smartphone, but also on your PC. If you do not always want to have your smartphone in hand while you are sitting at your computer, you can use Telegram both with the desktop app and as "Telegram Web" in a browser on the PC. The prerequisite for this is that your mobile phone number is already registered with Telegram and that you have Telegram installed on your smartphone.

1st step:

First download the Telegram app for the desktop. You can find a download link here: https://desktop.telegram.org/ . Just click the Get Telegram for Windows button . With a click on " Show all Platforms " you can also select other operating systems , including macOS.

2nd step:

After the download is complete , click the file below to open and install it . Just follow the instructions of the installation wizard.

3rd step:

The app starts after successful installation. Click the " Start Now " button .

4th step:

You can now conveniently log into the app using the QR code displayed . To do this, simply open Telegram on your smartphone and go to " Settings "> " Devices "> " App ". Alternatively, you can also log in with your telephone number if the mobile phone is not in range at the moment.

5th step:

Follow the instructions in the desktop app and navigate to the specified destination in the smartphone app. Once there, tap on " Scan QR Code ". Hold the camera over the QR code to scan it. Your Telegram messages and groups will then open automatically.

1st step:

Open a browser of your choice and enter this link: https://web.telegram.org/#/login . Then select your country and provide your phone number .

2nd step:

Then enter the five-digit code that was sent to your smartphone. You can then chat with your friends in Telegram. You may have to log in again after restarting the browser .

Quick guide: Telegram desktop app

1. Use this link https://desktop.telegram.org/ to download the Telegram desktop app. Click Get Telegram for Windows or Show all Platforms to choose a different operating system .
2. After downloading open the file and install it. To do this, follow the instructions of the installation wizard.
3. After the installation the app starts. Click on " Get Started ".
4. Navigate in the smartphone app via " Settings " and " Devices " to " Scan QR code ".
5. Scan the QR code with the mobile phone camera.
6. The desktop app will then automatically start with all of your chat history.
