Would you like to invite you to a party with a fancy flyer or do you need advertising flyers for your company? If you don't want to hire a print shop for this, you can simply create a flyer with Word. It looks professional and is free aside from your paper and ink costs. In our instructions we make a flyer with two folded edges. In these tips + tricks, we explain to you which settings you have to make in Word for this.

How to design a flyer in Word

Follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the brief instructions .

1st step:

First, open Microsoft Word and create a blank document .

2nd step:

We want to create a flyer with two folded edges. So that the whole thing looks better, we need the A4 format in the horizontal orientation. To do this, go to " Orientation " via " Layout " and select " Landscape ".

3rd step:

image
So that the flyer starts right at the edge of the page, the margins must now be removed. To do this, navigate again via " Layout " to " Margins " and " User-defined margins ".

4th step:

Here you set all values to " 0 cm " and confirm with " OK ".

5th step:

For a better subdivision of the flyer, the document needs several columns. For this we create a table via " Insert "> " Table " and select the size " 3 x 1 table ".

6th step:

image
So that the table extends over the entire sheet, drag it to the end of the page.

7th step:

image
Remove the frame from the table via " Table design "> " Frame "> " No frame " so that there is no unnecessary frame on the folded edge when printing.

8th step:

Now adjust the flyer as needed. There are no limits to your imagination. Use graphics, text fields, clip art or other elements that Word offers. If you want your flyer to be printed on both sides, design a second side in the same layout. Then select "both sides" in the print settings accordingly.

9th step:

The picture above or the short video below shows which sides should be folded for our chosen design and how. Fold the outside 1 and 5 inwards so that side 1 is correspondingly on top. Simply use our example as a guide to create an attractive flyer.

quick start Guide

  5. To ensure that the flyer is correctly divided, create a corresponding subdivision of the A4 format using " Table " and " 3 x 1 table ".

  7. Insert another page in the same format if you also want to write on the inside of the flyer.
