Shipping costs are always a delicate matter. For example, if you order something from Amazon and then send it back, the whole thing quickly becomes more expensive than originally planned. But there are a few tricks you can use to save shipping costs on Amazon.
Free shipping from Amazon from 29 €
For Amazon customers, the shipping costs for standard shipping are automatically omitted if you order a goods value of € 29 or more. However, only products that are also sent by Amazon count. This means, however, that items with Fulfillment by Amazon, which are sold by a third party, count towards the 29 € value of goods. However, faster shipping than standard shipping is no longer free. Then you still have to pay the shipping costs. For items that are not approved for young people, i.e. films with an FSK18 rating or games with a USK18 rating, there are always 5 € additional shipping costs.
No shipping costs for book orders
In exceptional cases, you don't even have to reach the limit of € 29 for free shipping described above: Books are always shipped free of charge. It doesn't matter whether you buy a small paperback for € 5 or a hardcover book for € 25. This also has another advantage: Regardless of whether you are only ordering a book or adding a book to an existing order, there are always no shipping costs for every delivery. Free premium shipping with Amazon Prime
As long as you have Amazon Prime, you can always get items for free. No matter how high the value of the order is - there are no shipping costs. Faster shipping - in some cases even next-day or same-day shipping - is free of charge. So if you order more often from Amazon, you could consider a Prime membership. Even if there is talk of "free" shipping, that is of course not entirely true. For a Prime membership you have to pay € 7.99 a month or € 79.99 a year. However, you then of course not only have the shipping benefits, but also Prime Music, Prime Video and access to exclusive offers.
Note: Even with Amazon Prime, the fees of € 5 for adult broadcasts cannot be completely avoided. However, there are always offers for Prime members that grant a discount of € 5 when ordering FSK18 titles - exactly the additional shipping costs.
