Every AVM FritzBox router is equipped with an info LED. If there is a problem or an important message, it will flash. It is important to see whether the LED lights up red or green. In the following, we will explain exactly what that means.

The FritzBox info LED flashes - what are the causes?

First of all, it is not a bad thing if the info LED on your router flashes. First of all, it just means that your device wants to tell you something. You should therefore also regularly check whether all the lamps on your router are glowing as usual or whether anything has changed. Next, the color is important: if the lamp flashes green, a set event has occurred. As a rule, you have previously set on the user interface in which case the flashing occurs. These include, for example, "Missed call" and "New message on the answering machine".

If your LED is blinking red, it indicates an error message. In most cases, the update of your FritzBox has failed. You should then simply perform the update again. If this does not work again, restarting the FritzBox can solve your problem. As a rule, error messages are also displayed in the AVM user interface. You can access this by entering " fritz.box " in the browser ..

The FritzBox's info LED lights up red permanently - that's the problem

If the info light on your router is not blinking but is steady, this could indicate a more serious problem. The cause can be prolonged malfunctions, atypical usage behavior or very urgent notifications. This includes, for example, that telephony, WLAN or the entire Internet connection no longer work. The overview of the FritzBox user interface shows you exactly where the problem is. You can reach this by entering " fritz.box " in the browser and then logging in with your user data. There you will often find the right suggested solutions.

By the way: Even in the event of a fault on the provider's side, the info LED on the FritzBox can light up red. In this case there is nothing you can do, you have to wait until the provider takes care of you again.

If you log into the Fritzbox user interface, you will land directly on the overview page. If there is an error message, it would be displayed directly above. In the case shown here, there is no error.
