You can insert stamps with additional information into a PDF document directly on the PC. Often there are ready-made designs - but you can also create your own stamps with just a few clicks. You can find out how to do this with the free Adobe Acrobat Reader DC in this article.

How to create your own PDF stamps

To create a stamp for your PDF document using Adobe Acrobat Reader DC , follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the quick start guide .

Note: In the free Acrobat Reader you can only create your own stamps from PDF files. In order to also generate stamps from other file formats, you have to use programs such as Adobe Acrobat Pro DC, which is subject to a fee . In the also chargeable PDF Annotator , you can design your own stamps directly in the program..

1st step:

Design your stamp with the graphics program of your choice. Alternatively, you can also use a finished image, such as a scanned signature. Important: Finally, save the file in PDF format .

2nd step:

Open the PDF you want to stamp in Acrobat Reader. Go to " Tools " at the top.

3rd step:

Now click on " Stamp ".

4th step:

You now have three options in the menu bar above: Under " Stamp " you can choose one of the existing copies. Under " Stamp palette " you can choose one of the stamps that you have used frequently or recently. To upload and use your newly designed stamp, click on " Custom Stamps " and select " Create ".

5th step:

Now click on " Browse ".

6th step:

Find your stamp design from your files and confirm with " Open ".

7th step:

Then click OK .

8th step:

Now you have to choose a category to which your stamp fits thematically (the defaults are "Dynamic", "Business" and "Sign here"). You can also name a new category. Then give your stamp a name and confirm with " OK ".

9th step:

You will now find your self-created stamp in your stamp palette under the selected category . In our test, Adobe Acrobat Reader automatically releases the motif and cuts it to fit - this will probably not work for all motifs.

10th step:

To use the stamp, select it. If you wish, you can now enter your identity information, but you can also skip this step by clicking on " Cancel ".

11th step:

Now you can place , move, rotate and change the size of the stamp as you like . You can also add more stamps. Finally click on " Close " in the upper right corner . Finally, you should save your document .

quick start Guide

Note: With the Acrobat Reader from Adobe you can only convert PDF files into stamps. In order to use other file formats for this, you have to resort to other paid programs.

1. Design your stamp or use a finished picture as a motif. Save the file in PDF format.
2. Open the PDF document to be stamped in Acrobat Reader.
3. Go to " Tools " at the top and then select " Stamps ".
4. In the menu bar at the top, click Custom Stamps , then select Create .
5. Go to " Browse " and select the stamp design from your files. " Open " this and confirm with " OK ".
6. Choose a category that your stamp fits into, or create a new one. Rename then your stamp and confirm with " OK ".
7. Your new stamp is now in the stamp palette next to your selected category. Select it there to use it.
8. If necessary, enter identity information . You can skip this step with " Cancel ".
9. Place your stamp and then click on " Close " in the top right corner .
10. Finally, save your document.
