In your Instagram account, you can not only post stories with photos and videos, but also start a live video stream. The function is called Instagram Live and belongs to Instagram Stories. When you are live, your subscribers see what you are filming in real time - for example, what you are doing or where you are traveling. The stream can take up to an hour, after which you can download the video and post it on your account.

How to create a live stream on Instagram app

1st step:

In the app in the feed, tap on your profile picture with the subtitle " Your Story " in the upper left corner . Alternatively, tap on the " + " above .

2nd step:

Now tap on " Live " at the bottom right .

3rd step:

Now you can see a preview of the camera perspective. You can still make some settings for your stream: The gear wheel in the top left takes you to general settings (who can see your stream, what reactions are allowed, will your stream be saved at the end, viewers can share it, ...) ? You can give your stream a title using the lines on the left . You can also change the smartphone camera via the camera symbol . You can use the picture if you want Add effects and filters .

4th step:

To your live stream start , tap the large Live icon below. At the top right there is now a notice that you are " Live ". Now your followers can watch you. Above you can see how many viewers you have; you can see their comments below.

5th step:

While your stream is running, there are further setting options : For example, you can write a comment yourself at the bottom left or use the three points to make settings for the comments. If you tap on your comment, you can freeze it for viewers so that it is always visible. If you tap on " Live " in the upper right corner, you will see how long you have been broadcasting.

6th step:

To your stream end , either tap the top right of the cross or the Back button of your smartphone. Confirm the process.

7th step:

When your stream is over, you can share the live video directly via IGTV , download it or discard it .

1. In the app, tap on your profile picture with the subtitle " Your Story " in the top left or on the " + " at the top .
2. In the lower right, tap Live .
3. You will now see a preview and can make some settings for your stream: Via the gear wheel at the top left (general settings), via the lines on the left (title of the stream), via the camera symbol (change smartphone camera) and via the effect Icons (add effects and filters to the video).
4. To watch the live stream start , tap the bottom of the Live icon . At the top right it says that you are "Live", at the top you can see your audience number, and at the bottom you can see their comments.
5. During the stream, you can make further settings (e.g. write and fix your own comments at the bottom left or use the three points to make settings for the comments). If you tap on "Live" in the upper right corner, it will tell you how long you've been broadcasting.
6. To the stream stop , tap the top right of the cross or the Back button on your smartphone, then confirm the operation.
7. After streaming, you can share , download or discard your live video directly via IGTV .
