Do you want to get going quickly, but still need to charge your smartphone? You can speed up this process with a few tricks. This article will tell you what you can do to charge your smartphone battery faster.

Use the best charging accessories

  • Power adapter: How fast a cell phone charges also depends on the power adapter used. This acts as a connection between the socket and the charging cable. If you have a variety of power supplies on hand, feel free to try which one works best. Ideally, you should use the power adapter that came with your device.
  • Charging cable: The same applies to your charging cable. Cheap cables, in particular, often transmit less electricity and thus drag out the charging process. If possible, use the charging cable that comes with your smartphone here too. You should also use a rather short cable to charge your smartphone faster. Because super-long charging cables are perhaps useful for using the mobile phone while it is charging. But they have a higher resistance and therefore transmit less current.
  • A tip for on the go: If the battery is not full in time despite all the measures taken, you can continue to charge it on the go. All you need is a portable charger, also known as a power bank. The charger also helps if the battery is empty faster than expected.

Select and maintain connections

  • Charging on the PC: If you connect your smartphone to a computer or other device (such as a game console) via a USB socket, it will be charged. But that takes a long time because the USB socket transmits less electrical current than the socket.
  • Clean connections: If the connections of the mobile phone, charging cable or power supply are dirty, this can also lead to longer charging times. If necessary, clean the connections with a compressed air spray.

Limit the cell phone's energy consumption

The less energy the mobile phone needs during this time, the shorter the charging time. You should therefore not use your smartphone while it is charging and you should also switch off services such as location transmission. Airplane mode also helps here: if you switch it on, all radio connections are interrupted (in addition to the cellular connection, e.g. WLAN, NFC or Bluetooth). If you also turn off automatic updates and synchronization, your phone can charge even faster.

Use the quick charge function

Newer smartphones often have a quick charge function. If you activate this in the settings of your mobile phone, the charging time is significantly reduced. It is important that your power supply unit is also suitable for fast charging - because this requires a higher voltage and thus a higher current.

Caution: The power adapter and mobile phone may heat up more during fast charging than during normal charging. In order not to overload the devices, you should not use the mobile phone while it is charging and ideally switch on flight mode..
