It happens again and again: One click too many and a file accidentally ends up in the trash. As a rule, however, you can restore deleted files; you also have this option with Dropbox. You will learn two ways of doing this in this article. The instructions work equally well for Windows and Mac as the Dropbox opens in the browser. The changes made are automatically synchronized; it is best to use a computer for a better overview.

How to Recover Deleted Dropbox Files

To restore Dropbox files, follow our step-by-step guide or take a look at the quick start guide .

1st step:

Open the Dropbox website and sign in to your Dropbox account. Now click on " Deleted files " in the bar on the left .

2nd step:

Then click on the name of the Dropbox folder or file that you want to restore. You can also select multiple files or folders at once by checking the boxes to the left of the file names. In this case, click on the blue " Restore " button on the right (see picture).

3rd step:

Finally click on " Restore ". The files will now be restored - this may take a while depending on how many files you have selected.

How to Recover Deleted Files Using Dropbox Folder

1st step:

Sign in to your Dropbox account and select the folder where the deleted file was located. Then click on the three dots in the top right corner in the overview . You may have to scroll down in the menu that opens. Then select " View Deleted Files ". These are now displayed together with the existing files.

2nd step:

Click the three dots to the right of the file you want to restore . In the menu that opens, select " Restore ". If you want to restore multiple files, select them using the boxes on the left and then click " Restore " at the top .

3rd step:

Confirm by clicking on " Restore ". The file will now be restored directly to the folder.
