Accidentally deleted a picture in Google Photos? No problem - it can be restored relatively quickly..

It can happen quickly: you are about to delete a few old pictures and suddenly a current picture is gone. In this case, you don't need to despair. All images stored in Google Photos are not deleted directly, but rather moved to a kind of recycle bin. This gives you an opportunity to easily restore your file. The procedure is the same for Android and iPhone.

How to Recover Google Photos from Trash

When you delete a picture or video from your smartphone in the Google Photos app, it is not gone straight away. Instead, it is moved to the trash and stored there for 60 days. You can then use the recycle bin to restore or permanently delete the picture or video. After the period of around 2 months, the file is then automatically deleted and cannot be restored. Open the trash in Google Photos by going to the main menu, select " Trash type".

Here you can see an overview of your deleted pictures. Tap the picture you want to restore.

3rd step:

Then select the " Restore " option below . The picture will now be saved again in Google Photos or on your smartphone.

2. Select the photo that you want to restore. Now you can choose between " Delete " and " Restore ". You can also see how long the photo has been saved in the trash.
